Hundreds dance in downtown San Jose for CityDance
CityDance San Jose drew over a hundred dancers to the Circle of Palms to learn Bollywood dancing in front of the San Jose Museum of Art. Akshay Savale, director of the Starrz Dance Academy of Performing Arts, a Bollywood dance company based in Cupertino, led a group in a step-by-step tutorial on how to dance to several songs.
Dancers of all ages jumped, shook and swung their arms as the sun set over the palm trees, including a lively 92-year-old JF White, who danced throughout the evening.
The monthly series kicked off with salsa in June, Bollywood this month, followed by cumbia (August 18) and K-pop (September 15). The dance starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m. Dancing is free, as is admission to the San Jose Museum of Art on CityDance nights.
